CenturyLink Internet Outages Leave 45,000 Users Offline in Colorado – June 2025

Colorado communities were affected by internet outages, and it left over 45,000 users offline on June 19, 2025.  The internet outages highly impact the United States, where they disrupted telecommunications and loss of access to broadband services. 

The major providers that are severely impacted by internet outages are Brightspeed, CenturyLink Link and Quantum Fibre. The internet outage lasted for more than 2 ½ hours, which is a high period and considered the most relevant broadband failures in recent months.

The widespread internet issues affected Centurylink, an American telecommunications company, and its customers, over 35000 were experiencing full connectivity loss, frequent service drops, and sluggish browsing speed, as reported through Down Detector. During the same time, similar issues were reported by 17000 users from Quantum Fiber and 3000 users from Brightspeed.

Centurylink – Highly Affected

CenturyLink, an American telecommunications venture. In  2020,  it was rebranded as Lumen Technologies. The company offers major services like voice, managed services, and internet through its copper and fibre networks, and also via cloud computing services and data centres.

The outage reports and users from social channels are constantly complaining about the internet issues throughout the day, and they are eagerly waiting for the updated response from the service providers. 

Not only Centurylink users,  the customers of Quantum Fiber and Brightspeed are also affected by the internet outage.

Quantum Fiber is a premium fibre optic internet service provided by Luman Technologies. The company mainly focuses on the sixteen states’ local presence,  offering forthcoming generation technology.  Full digital online service and excellent customer support around the clock, solidifies its efficiency among users. Many of the customers encountered significant internet service issues. Internet connection issues also disrupt the daily operations of schools, businesses, and other organizations. Similar disruptions occurred for Brightspeed, and the company reported significant service issues during the same period. Brightspeed is one of the most popular telecommunications and internet providers in the US, operated by Apollo Global Management. They mainly focused on elaborating their fibre optic network to attract numerous homes around their twenty-state footprint.

The internet outage also revived discussion across service delivery and transfer of ownership inside the telecommunications sector of the US.

The main cause of the area outage can normally be considered as the possible cause of service interruption or equipment malfunction. But in the current case, the outage disrupted internet connections around several states in the US. Hence, finding the actual cause behind this issue might be a difficult task for service providers.

Till now, CenturyLink has not publicly disclosed the real reason for the root cause of the internet outages.

By mid-afternoon, the internet issues were solved, but this disruption highlighted the concern regarding the stability of the national broadband infrastructure of the US.
